1968 GT350 # 3364 from Costa Rica at recent swap meet
« on: September 17, 2018, 09:11:36 PM »
Photos sent to me by a friend. Recent swap meet in New York. He said the car was already sold for $65K when he got there.

All I have are the photos and the story. Maybe some here will know more.

The placard says "'68 Shelby Barn Find From Costa Rica! Genuine Shelby GT350 #3364. Just off the truck out of 25 years' storage - no time to clean it up! Factory Wimbledon White 4 speed car with black interior, tilt wheel and ten spokes. Matching number engine, solid Central American body. Have Marti Report, other documents coming. All Shelby ID tags intact and original."

Well, the friend has his timing a bit off - these photos are of #3364 when I had it for sale at Spring Carlisle in April of 2016, not a recent swap meet in New York.

Bret is correct, it did indeed come from Costa Rica, he found it sitting in a warehouse there for over 25 years. I displayed it with original dirt intact, but added the chickens for effect. It created quite a stir at the show, and even ended up being the subject of a poster that was on sale at 2017 Spring Carlisle.

The mileage was very low and other than the changes under the hood, it was quite original. It did sell within hours, to a buyer from Massachusetts. I believe he still has it and has done research on its history.
