I'm searching for a thin head gasket, .020", to use with a 302 iron block and an aluminum head. So far all I can find is the standard Fel-Pro type, .040".

Can anyone here point me to one that as of yet is undiscovered by me?

I'm waiting for Cometic Tech to get back to me but haven't heard anything yet.

Years ago these thin head gaskets were very common and referred to as shim head gaskets.

I think JEGS may have the "shim gaskets" for the 302.

I ave a set of NOS Ford/SAI shim gaskets left Doug. Make sure you have a MINIMUM of .035 NET piston to head clearance. If you have the piston flush with the top of the block and use the .020 (or so) gasket , the piston WILL hit the head.
