That is so cool Pete.  I am assuming the car in the add you circled is yours?  Now you have piqued my interest so I am going to have to start searching Fogg Motors for March-May of 1968 adds.

That car circled is the "Coralsnake"

I went full psycho on the ads....collected about 150 so far, many new Shelby dealer ads  :-\

Thanks Pete! Now you have me searching the newspapers in Long Beach, CA looking for ads from Mel Burns Ford...
When things go bad just hit the throttle, may not solve the situation but does end the suspense.

Man that is something else. Every picture tells a story don't it? Great work.

Wow Pete.  What a cool find.  I would never even thought of looking for something like that.  So cool to have that piece of history for your car.

Too bad they were not required (like some other newspapers of the time) to include license plate numbers so that one could possibly figure out the specific cars.

Here are some general observations

The California dealers did not have very good ads. The ads I have found tend to be smaller and without pictures. There are a few exceptions.

Some dealers do have very detailed descriptions and it is possible to identify specific cars.

Watkins, Schmidt, Courtesy  and a few others come to mind.

I now declare myself the ad king!

Ref the Schmidt ad:
According to the Marti report on #03562 it was still in Schmidt inventory at the time of this ad. The description of the third car down in the left column matches and its the only blue KR FB, auto, air in the list. However, at the top of the ad they say they have 24 Shelbys but only 21 listed so its possible #03562 had a twin in inventory.

Wouldn't it be cool to identify and locate as many of these cars as possible and get them back together at a convention. Maybe we could get someone to dress in a wide lapel plaid polyester suit to pose as a salesman. I don't have a suit like that but I know I have a tie that would work.

Let me know what dealer you are looking for.....
I'd be looking for Johnny Bolton Ford out of Maitland, Florida.  Would love to find an ad for my 68 GT500.

Dig that "The Going Thing" graphic - would love to have a clean vector file of that.
