Where is this VIN# found?  There is a 1968 Mustang  Fastback Project on Ebay and this is a Photo used to show the VIN#.  Never seen one like this on a Mustang.

Some where some one is driving their collector car for the last time but they don't know it . Drive your car every time like it could be the last memory of it .

Does that look reverse stamped to you Phil? Tough to see on my phone. Even with my reading glasses on :o

Stamps look raised to me, guess I'll wait to see it on a bigger screen

Optical illusion - keep staring at it and blink your eyes - it will switch from one to the other.

Thats why I posted it.  It looks reversed stamped, like from the underside.

Looking at it on a larger screen, it does appear to be stamped incorrectly, from the bottom, raised, and not an optical illusion. Also notice the slight curvature of the VIN, hard to accomplish using the original stamping machine wouldn't you say?

vs a proper stamped vin

For a potential buyer, the car in question requires a more hands on up close and personal approach. I personally would not buy it without seeing it in person first.

If you imagine the light source from the right it looks reverse stamped.
Imagine light source from the left and it looks correct.
Noticed this same effect many times on VIN photos - this one really is stamped from the top.  It's a mind trick.

many times closeup photos taken with a cell phone will have a misleading curvature. That might be happing here.

No way to tell anything without having a personal "eyes on" examination.
