Help Finding My Old 66 GT 350H
« on: November 11, 2018, 06:15:15 PM »
I known it’s a long shot but anyone have an idea to help me locate my old Black and Gold 1966 GT-350H. Unfortunately I don’t know the Shelby Vin number? I owned it in Colorado from 1971 to 1974. A guy in Firestone, Colorado contacted me a few years ago asking for any history, I had on the car, as he just bought it. I was so excited to talk to him I forgot to ask the vin number for my records. I also lost his name and phone number... I just retired and now want to get back into a 65-66 Shelby and wouldn’t mind having my car back?

Thanks for any help.

A quick check in the latest 2011 Registry did not reveal your name as a former owner of a 1966 GT350.  If your name were listed, it would've referenced the VIN of your car. The fact that your name doesn't appear doesn't mean that you didn't own a '66 GT350...It just means that no one documented that you did.  Do you remember the individual's name or the dealership where you purchased the car?

Thanks for checking the registry. Unfortunately i don’t have that information, I bought it at a Honda Motorcycle Shop ln Colorado Springs Colorado and they went out of business years ago. The newest owner contacted me in about 2012.

How many '66 GT350's can there be in Firestone, CO?  Why not do a GOOGLE search for auto restoration or speed shops there, call and ask if anyone has seen or remembers seeing the car?

Maybe Uncle Joe SFM6S   can chime in,  he seems to know all the cars out in that area

I contacted the original poster as I live in Denver and know
a guy in Firestone , Co.  who has a 66 Hertz car.  seems likely
it's his old Shelby . Hopefully it will turn out to be.

This is a good example IMHO of why it’s important to keep the people that run the registries updated with as much information possible. If the guy in Firestone had updated the Registrar with the past owners name that he found, all this information would be know and available for the past owner to reach out now. Just a good example of how the system can work and what happens when it isn't kept up to date

Just a thought ::)  and a reminder for us all

Thanks to all that helped out “Dave”, I did get in contact with the current owner of SFM6S-1613. That was my old car. Now I am on the hunt to try to help him and me find the history of my old car. If anyone has any information about SFM6S-1613 , please contact me..
thank you

Please be sure to keep the Registrar updated!  I had a 69 GT500 that I would love to find as I have some original stuff to give him/her.  Point is as Mr. Speegle has said, inform the Registrars.

All the best,

Steve
