Although the registry indicates 2125 was painted Bright Blue, it is incorrect, due to an inability to differentiate between blues at the time. We know now that 3 cars were painted in a color that AC Cars labeled "Blue Metaline." And this was at the same time they were using "Princess Blue," a very similar but different color.

While we're on the subject of blue...The bulk of blue small block Cobras were painted what AC Cars called "Bright Blue." Over the years, this has come to be seen as synonymous with Ford Guardsman Blue. But they were different colors. The AC color is technically known as "AC Jewelesence 19028-N Bright Blue." So, if you want your Bright Blue 289 to be fully correct...

+1

I have an original paint "Bright Blue" in color bonnet from a Cobra hanging on a wall. As far as I know it has been hanging as wall art on some Cobra owners or another display wall for decades. In a round of original used Cobra part trades between a group of Cobra owners I ended up with it. While you could call AC Cars "Bright Blue" and Ford "Guardsman Blue" similar, they are not the same.

OK. Let's not even get started on what's in the boot.

I got somebody in the UK really mixed up once when I used "hood" to describe that big hinged panel covering the engine bay. As in why would somebody open their soft top to get to a battery disconnect in the engine bay. The occasion being described was the owner of CSX2050 fumbling around trying to find the key to the Budget® latches so he could disconnect the battery before the car burned up. It was a short period of fumbling around but with hot wiring smoke rising from the car it was exciting for the Cobra's owner. Memory says the key was on a string hung around his neck the rest of the event weekend.

I have encountered the same confusion, but fortunately not in as drastic a situation as the one you describe. How could anyone confuse a hood with a bonnet, a trunk with a boot, or a top with a hood? It boggles the mind.

I had seen Blue Metaline listed a few times, but had never actually seen it.  Absolutely stunning.

Quiet for a month  ;)

What is the # on this car ? it was asked on another forum, id'd as a 289 FIA car ? ? Driven by Machoir in France. I looked in my

4th edition of the registry and couldn't find that name under owners.

Just a guess, but maybe a replica. They race a lot of Kobras in Europe.
