I'll keep major progress pics updated.  I received back all of the steering and suspension perfectly restored by Shelby Parts and Restoration a few months ago.  Can't wait to start bolting on those pieces  :).  Getting ready to take the C4 for rebuild.   I do know the specific uniqueness about the C4 for this car, valve body and servo.

Are there any suggestions on the rebuild process / reliability enchantments for the transmission from anyone?

Thanks

Performance Automatic in Frederick Maryland makes a really nice front pump gasket. It much thicker than ones available now, similar to the original Ford one. Fought a trans leak for a year before I was able to find their gasket
It’s not in their catalog, but you can call them

Thanks for the info I'll be sure to reach out.  I'm assuming a basic rebuild of the transmission is the way to go.

Any suggestions on converter brand / stall speed?

Thanks

There are needle bearings in the TC. It's not expensive to have them rebuilt.  Obviously, all seals, bearings, bands and friction materials at minimum.  I rebuilt the top loader in my Shelby, which required a couple gears, but in my opinion there is more of an art to rebuilding an automatic. You might consider having it done. I am sure the gentlemen here could recommend a known rebuilder in your area.

The Shelby is beautiful. I remember when my shell came back painted. I couldn't wait to dive into it.  Tragically, I had completed the suspension and It was sent to paint with it on. The painter was careless which necessitated complete disassembly, repainting, some replating and replacement of several items. Lesson learned. Keep the progress pictures coming.
