Mustang Owners Manual Stamp in GT 350's
« on: December 18, 2018, 11:49:41 AM »
Is it correct to say that the Mustang Owners Manual that came in new 65/66 GT 350's have this stamp?

The owners that I have asked about this all say that theirs doesn't. I know that may mean that their owners manuals may not be original to their cars, but I still would like to learn more about this. Did some original-to-the-car manuals perhaps not have it?

IIRC, the warranty for the 66 GT350's was covered in the supplemental manual, thus the VOID for G.T. 350 in the Mustang manual.

The Mustang manual should have also been filled out by the selling dealer with SAI VIN as warranty number, owner and dealer info and usually the ignition/door and trunk key numbers.

Liability for the warranty if the stamp was not done in the book is a logical incentive to have it stamped. It was supposed to have been done. If no stamp most likely a replacement book. Not to say it is not beyond the realm of possibility to not have it stamped but highly unlikely given the stakes involved.

Thanks Bob, I meant that my GT350 owners manual isn’t stamped and my mustang one is missing  :)

No reason for it to be stamped in the GT350 manual but important to be stamped in the regular Mustang manual.

Yeah that makes sense, thanks, Brain running a bit slow today. And what about the cars with locker rear ends, I remember a manual with a stamp on the front?

Hi GT350Lad,

The Detroit Locker instruction manual "NoSPIN" was stamped "GT350 SILENT TYPE" which is ironic, because it was not silent, but was advertised as quieter than the standard type.  Inside the manual, it advises the new car owner not to worry if they hear a clunking sound out of the rear when making slow turns. (Not those exact words.) You can see one from the 5s003 website.

http://1965gt350mustang.com/litmem/lm12.html

The GT350 supplemental also advises the new car owner that ".....the No-SPIN produces an audible sound, as it reacts to demands of the different speeds of the rear wheels.  Do not be alarmed by this noise."  (Exact words.)

I view this like the rear GT350 emblem – all the cars were supposed to have one, but some didn’t. Likewise, all the cars should have had this stamp in the Mustang manual, but some didn’t. How many and why? We’ll probably never know.

At least that was my conclusion when this was discussed on Forum 1.0.

SO, say I am at an Automotive Swap Meet. I find a Vendor that has TWO nice used original 66 Mustang Manuals in the same condition.  One has the Stamp the other does not.  The one WITH the Stamp is then for sure from a GT 350? the one with out might be from a GT 350 but most likely not.  SO, the one WITH the Stamp is more Valuable? If so by how much?
