Someone using the 5S306 number
« on: December 30, 2018, 11:50:56 AM »
On a Facebook page, I saw and participated in a thread about someone selling a very bad clone, and had a Shelby tag with 5S306.

The car was originally a Detroit 6-cyl, and had so much wrong, it was actually hilarious. Yet the story was the seller was swearing the car was authentic! Many on the thread blew the car apart, and I also contributed, but kept the good secrets off the thread. The person looking to buy saw the truth, and did not buy as a Shelby, but may go back and offer badly modified Mustang money.

I cannot currently find the post, it may have been taken off, but wanted to put out the word about someone using the number.

Just an FYI.

Hey don't feel bad, that fake Shelby that was saved in the Malibu fire had a tag with a number only two numbers away from mine.

Real tag/fake car or fake tag fake car?

The real 5S306 was delivered to Ecurie Filippinetti/Switzerland.
I ran over a 5S306 tagged car 1999 in France. Not sure if real or not, but of course that is no authentification.

BTW Burgol does not show any more pics of it on their website, only the number.

Use google translate to translate the site to engish:

https://translate.google.com/

Put the link in the left box, choose translate from French.  On the right, choose English, then click the link in the right box.

FYI...
The picture of the tag on the site is not a real tag with the '5S' in black before the number.

It is hard to tell, but it looks like one of those really bad tags that is printed with Shelby America vs Shelby American

Looks like a popular number to use!

I guess the "cloners" are using an older registry?

My comments are a little off subject..... but my two cents worth, with the amount of knowledge and documentation known on early GT-350's and easy of verification. Any person which purchases a fake car deserves it. Maybe 25 or 30 years ago (before internet) buyers were cheated. But in this day and time where a 1965 GT-350 can fetch $300,000 or more. I would think all potential buyers would do their home work to establish the authenticity of their purchase. 3 weeks ago I purchased my first 1966 GT-350 (not the more coveted 65 model) after looking for a car for almost 20 years. In all this time looking at cars I never experienced anyone pitching a fake as the real deal. I'm sure it happens but rarely. Like I said my 2 cents- Thanks for listening.
PS these Shelby forums are incredibly informative I learn something technical every time I read postings. Truly amazing!
