Houston 1969 Pics
« on: January 04, 2019, 11:59:58 AM »
These pics and captions were in the Houston Chronicle today. Brought back some great memories as I was 10 at the time!

Cool pics. Thanks for posting. I'll have to dig out my Chronicle and look for those. Didn't notice them yesterday. But then I usually just read the comics and the business section - in that order.

I'm curious if they identified the road under construction. Could be any street or highway in the city since they all seem to be constantly under construction. I'm also curious about the park with "Mosquito Man"? Looks like either Memorial or Milby to me.

Good Morning,

I knew we had to have some Houstonian's on this forum!

The pics (link below) were found in the Chronicle on-line.  Not sure about the paper itself.

"Mosquito Man" was in Moody Park.  The route/road was listed as Southeast Texas.

You can check out the site for the other captions and pictures.

It is amazing how much character each car had back then. Now most every thing looks like a stretched out melted jelly bean with an angry insect face.

Ron,

Thanks again for posting the pics & locations. I checked and these weren't in the print edition of the Chronicle.
