Some where some one is driving their collector car for the last time but they don't know it . Drive your car every time like it could be the last memory of it .

I believe so but the 289 "show chassis" appears to be a coil spring chassis.

I guess the difference then would be the size of the main tubes? 3" vs. 4"?

Now on a BaT with no reserve;

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-ac-289-show-chassis-cobra/

The no-reserve auction ended wit a twist. Buyer turns out to be the owner who wasn't happy with the bid amount.

Drama ensued.

It isn't easy to put a dollar value amount on the car.

The chassis was never numbered new and how do you describe it authentically as a real Cobra?

What happened to the coil spring "Paramoount chassis'" ? They were built into S/C's weren't they?

I don't recall any resale information on them within the last 30 years or so. Ned?

I would have to think that regardless of what this car actually cost to build that it probably has a value between a Kirham and around what an aluminum CSX continuation car would? I question whether it is entitled to wear a COBRA vin tag though and I wouldn't be comfortable with the legality of that to begin with.

It IS somewhat of an "air car".

I don't see where it fits the bill as anyone's ultimate dream car? Probably is just going to get traded from one dealer to another and used as floor traffic by them?

I'd put a price on it at around $150,000, as a result.  Just my guess.

Wow, what a slimy thing for the seller to do.  BaT promotes the heck out of this 'Real Cobra' (seriously?) auction as a No Reserve, and at the last moment, the owner is caught placing the winning bid of $395,000.  To be honest, I can't imagine the car was worth much more than that anyway.  Drama indeed!
