The Friedman collection is vast.
This link should get you to the 1959 Nassau Speedweek pictures, Shelby looks real frail in one of the pictures.
I have not looked/researched how many more races Carroll ran in after this International event?
https://www.flickr.com/photos/thehenryford/sets/72157648154385499/I entered into agreement, and paid the Henry Ford Museum for legal use of some of the pictures.
The winner' circle picture, the Shelby picture, the Gurney picture, all the Kart pictures and more, are of Ben Harris in his FIA $ SCCA duties at this Nassau Speedweek 10 day event. Ben is the official leaning into the Maserati's talking with Shelby and then Gurney.
BTW, he also black flagged a European race team, and had to stop the race for a short time. Roosevelt Jr, was infuriated. long time documented friends of the Harris family.
I did not get permission to publicly post any of Friedman work pictures, we purchased rights for another very important use.
Ben was also the FIA main man at the Cuban races, where one of his many friends, was kidnapped and held for ransom, Juan Fangio..
You see me write about Ben sometimes herein the topics, and or details of his remarkable futuristic Speedster, the story will one day be made totally public.
BTW, Carroll, Gurney, Moss, Hill and a TON of the greats might/should be on TV film in NBC's archives.
In always promoting scca and fia events in the country and Internationally, somehow a deal was cut to have NBC film Speedweek !!!!!!
Does anyone have a connection to get into their archives?
Respectfully submitted,
John
