67 GT500 428 Distributor Shaft
« on: January 22, 2019, 11:29:46 AM »
My distributor is the original one.  Having a hard time finding the correct bushings to rebuild it.  Would like to order before distributor from car. Found some 0.467” bushings on eBay. Are they correct shaft size?

You're just going to replace bushings and not have it curved? Makes little sense. The housing is also very fragile and I've seen a few broken over the years. They are difficult to find and expensive.  I would have it done professionally. They are a fitted bushing anyway.

I have found that usually the shaft has worn, not the bushing. So before you pay for a bushing, measure the shaft. If you still need a rebuild I can do it for you. Can curve if too on the old Sun Machine. Done dozens of them.

I hope Tim is still doing the restorations but had heard that he had quit temporally or permanent.

Bob: Tim having health issues, or just too busy to do them anymore?  If Tim stop doing them we have another well qualified and known distributor restorer that is part of the FE forum.

Who besides Tim is restoring them?  I had emailed and called him last month and he isn’t calling back.

Just to let you know, Distributor bushings have to be honed to size.

Faron does them as well. He has a good reputation for restoration/ re-curving as well. Here is the contact information. TotalPerfEntofPa@aol.com
