What is the story on the 67 Shelby? T/A car sold recently that is listed on the B/J site as an authentic Shelby car but according to the registry it is was completely destroyed in 1972. The selling price of $120k does seem very low for a documented car. Re body or what?

Do you know the specific lot number or a link to the car?

The VIN is given as an 'A' code, shouldn't that a K? That certainly conflicts with the amount of documentation...

Vin number and engine codes, and not enough documentation is what stopped Cooper and I from buying the 67/68 concept Shelby Convertible way back when.
This is way back when it was still hidden away up in Chicago.
Later on, some docs came about in saac records, and the indifferent Vin had no importance then.
I wished that I could locate my notes on the car, my ex thought they were hers>> as later on after it had sold things got muddied up.

There are a few places that may have some of the docs on the car, I get sick every time I start opening them up though. Just like some original Art work that Bill Neal had given me when I got him his 67 350 Shelby.

Respectfully submitted

I saw this car go and wondered why it went so cheaply being the first of 26 Shelby prep'd race cars.

So is this a re-body or did the seller regret the No Reserve status?

Not all of them were K cars.   The vin on this was an A  as were a few others  .  I had someone on site that looked at the car and  told me that the door tag was original .  I dont have a registry here at home but that should have all the numbers of the original cars.

Big Jim,
THAT is a huge number of unknowns.
Shame most are not around, OR, waiting to be re-discovered.
I wonder if the buyer had the docs you just showed here?

Just pointing out  that you have sequential vin 164685 listed twice with different information and engine codes.

Here is a pic of the warranty plate as presented in an eBay offering from December 2016.

I am not trying to dispute the car in question but the 1967/68 Shelby and Mustang notchback racer website says that the original car was crashed in 1972 and the paperwork was bought by Richard Rodeck and the car presented in the recent decade is not the same as the original. The SAAC registry says the car was destroyed in a race accident and the paperwork was purchased by Rodeck with the intent of recreating the car to original specs. Does this mean rebody? Has new information surfaced on this car or is that the reason for the low selling price?
