Paint diffrences?
« on: February 05, 2019, 12:56:07 PM »
The 67 Shelbys was shipped from San Jose too Shelby American with out the hood and the rear deck lid.
The car  was painted at Ford San Jose, how did they avoid the paint diffrences that could occur when the hood and deck lid was painted at Shelby?

not well, there were numerous Hood repaints at the dealers from complaints of owners.

Not being able to match color well may have been a contributing factor to Bronze being a short run availability.  Also, Shelby used lacquer which caused issues too.

Virtually every old color polaroid I have seen from back in the day shows a mismatch in paint between the Ford painted chassis and Shelby added painted parts. Some colors seemed to be worse then others .

Yes, all the Shelby fiberglass parts- hood, nose, 4 scoops, 2 end caps, tail panel and deck lid.

(the nose in that photo appears to be primer)
