GT40s on display at the 1968 Hemisfair in TX
« on: March 06, 2019, 09:22:28 AM »
I posted these over at the "Random car pictures" thread, but thought it would be good to put them here in the GT40 section.

A friend of mine was doing research on his XR7-G Cougar show unit that was on display at the '68 Hemisfair and found a good resource of vintage photographs.

Following are some pics of the GT40s that Ford had at the Ford Pavilion.

And here is a pic where my friend found his G.

To the left you can see the Le Mans winning Mk IV.

^^^ yes! And perhaps a GT-E Cougar also.

Seems some cars were moved around or swapped in and out.

Also appears as if the GT40s were brought in on trailers and displayed that way.

So perhaps they were only there for short time.

Also kinda neat - if you take the time and go through the Hemisfair photos on the University of Texas at San Antonio site you'll find some photos that show the "The Design Center" display better. It is on the curved wall behind the GT40 in the first pic I posted.

You'll see that a photo of the Cougar II is a part of that display.
