Good Place for Restoring Steering Box

So one of my last items will be getting the steering box restored.  Any recommendations on who you would recommend?
Also, the box is not supposed to be painted right?  Of course, someone painted mine black along the way!
The numbers on the tag say "SMB-E", is this correct for a January 67 Shelby?  The date code is only 2 weeks before my car was built, is it usual to have a date code so close to date of assembly?

I have also used Shelby Parts and Restoration for 2 of my Shelbys.  They came back perfect with proper finish and markings.

The SMB-E box is correct for your car built early Jan. And those boxes are somewhat difficult to find. Glad to hear you have it and can get it rebuilt.

I used ChockoStang, and they did a wonderful job.  http://www.chockostangclassicmustang.com

+1 for chockostang.  They also restored my complete power steering system with great results.

Send them to Jim at Shelby Parts. Especially if you have an X box.

Randy knows more than 99% of those I encounter about Ford Steering. He not only sells parts but does the rebuild on the box. He did mine on my shelby after another did it improperly, TWICE.
