This is an awesome thread but needs a new name;

HOW TO FILL YOUR FENDERS WITH RUBBER!

When men were men and women weren't offended by that!  🕺

This is CSX2550, it is what I think of when I think of a Cobra.

John,
I believe CSX2550 is the same car present at the MCR group at 1977 Carnival of Cars at the Packard Proving Grounds.
The red paint shows up different in this photo.
XGT-3  (#3) is alongside with Don Eichstead standing behind the MK-II.

regards,
jp

Yes, the same car. Color reproduction on 39 year old negatives sketchy at best. That's Larry in the jean jacket behind the car at the Utica test track in your picture.

Amazing pics!  Thanks to all for sharing...simply incredible.

And, I have to say: the quality of the pictures is amazing.  Very good clarity.  Well done!
Nothing beats a classic!

John,
The banking is evident in my photo, I didn't get more than 1/2 way up at 110 mph in 6S283.
Larry un-corked the side pipes and really opened up CSX2550, the 1st time I heard a small block cobra at full throttle,
I don't know what speed he hit on that track but he was really moving.

The only regret was XGT-3 was taken around at a leisurely pace, I would have loved hearing that 7 liters wide open,
I do remember it didn't like to idle under 2,000~2,500 rpm.

Thanks for the photos
jp
