If one wanted to replace a group 27 for a similar size for my 69, what would be suggested? Is there a false top for this size? Thanks in advance.
No battery topper currently for 27 F size. Motorcraft group 27 F is the typical solution for the foreseeable future. You might check with Brant at Virginia Mustang because he might have some insight on repro availability . He recently posted about having a limited amount of the 24 F versions .Post back and give a update for others.

Looking thru the Internet, it looks like the Exide battery from Home depot may be discontinued. It is not available in any store within 100 miles of me. Ford batteries don't look like they will accommodate the fake Autolite top.

this Walmart battery fits the size correctly but is only 700CCA, which seems too low.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I have a Walmart MAXX START 'Group 34 800 CCA' in the KR. Fits right in the original battery tray. One of the solutions to the hot start issue.

this one looks pretty good. Will the Autolite topper fit on it?   Is 800CCA enough power to always start a hot engine?

The terminals look backwards on that one.

For the non concourse guy or if the topper isn’t available the “ de-stickered “ flat black batteries will look perfect for most. Including me.
If you ever have a situation where fitment  is funny just get a heavy duty black zip tie around 36” and strap on (around) and clip for appearances,...blends right in.

Yes they are backwards but fit my 2 gauge cable (other part of the hot start solution) bends really well. This is for driving, as far as I'm going to take things.

I just went with a Costco black top battery.  After going through 2 Autolite batteries in 8 years,
I had enough.  Nothing wrong with my charging system.  Just bad batteries.

Looks decent.  I'm considering the Faux cover.

My 6 month old Autolite battery just failed. I would like to try another AGM battery that the Autolite topper fits. I hate putting an acid battery in the trunk. Anyone find an AGM that goes with the topper?
