The photo caption said this was just restored by JBA / Jay Bittle with an engine overhauled by JBA.
It appears to be an early car with a slanted grille, automatic trans, and an added A/C compressor.

Would anyone happen to know what the Shelby VIN number is?

No I didn't call since that show was over a year ago. I thought someone here might know which car it was.

Yes, just thought the previous owner (if it was in-fact sold) would know the car number...it was just a suggestion.

What is that on the dash, or what would it be covering?

Looking at both images it kinda seems like a hat, can't tell if it's on/covering something, just a guess.

The larger original photo shows it is a 'JBA' baseball cap, just sitting in the center of the dash. Nothing hidden underneath it.

engine picture added.

JD,
I thought about calling the number, but wouldn't they think I'm nuts after a year passed. I guess the worst they could do is hang up or call me names.

I'd think if you called and the car has been sold the worst they should say is "sorry, the car has been sold" etc.
It's all about how you present it...."hi there, my name is Rich, I saw your beautiful Shelby at a car show back when...."
I have had people contact me months after I had a car for sale.
All the above of course is assuming you're looking to buy.

Would anyone happen to know what the Shelby VIN number is?
That is car 363, I know because I restored it at Surefire Mustang in Houston TX. I`m a bit disappointed that Jay is taking credit for my work, he did the engine rebuild and was contracted to sell the car for the owner. it is my understanding it has been sold.

#00363 THANK YOU
Beautiful clean car...love the stance!!

I found the eBay listing for it back in April 2018. He does credit the owner for having the restoration done with a JBA built engine. Here's a link to the listing.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Shelby-Cobra-GT-500-/152955690000?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true

Here the caption from the 'Ford Muscle' car site. It seems I mis-understood the caption. You did nice work.
With a fresh overhaul from the JBA engine shop, this Brittany Blue GT500 was for sale at $189,000 obo. Nicely restored and nearly 100-percent correct, Austin Bittle says this car is a surprisingly smooth, quiet and precise driver compared to his dad J’s knuckle-dragging GT500 hot rod. “It has an excellent ride, stops straight, quiet… it’s a showroom Shelby,” Austin said. As with many collectibles there are extras. In this case the original wheels and tires and a non-louvered, non-air conditioned hood are part of the deal.

Thank you, It was a very clean West Texas car to start with and had if I recall, 77K miles on it. As for the stance, it has original reconditioned rear springs and new front coils with half a coil cut off to bring it down to level. Don't care for the motorboat look. :)
