Welcome to the Forum

If you type in "red marker lights" in the Search window, top right of page, plenty on the subject.

Cheers

Hi,

The red lights behind the scoops are believed to have been installed on a little less than the first 200 1967 Shelbys produced.  These lights were functional and used in conjunction with brake and turn signal application.  Some have mistakenly called these "Running Lights", but they only engage during the aforementioned scenarios.

Also, the reason that these lights were only installed on less than 200 cars...they were found to be illegal in some states (I don't believe it was a national law, but I could be wrong).  At the time, only emergency vehicles were allowed to have head level red lights.  Interesting, as now all cars have head level (or higher!) brake lights.

Hope this helps, and welcome!  :D

BTW - I used to own car #0022  ;)

Dr. D:

I meet your brother in the fall of 2017 at Tom Cotter's event (sold him some parts)  Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Hope you find good homes for his stable of Mustangs.

Yes, the upper scoop lights are often incorrectly referred to as Running Lights but they are Eye level brake and turn signals.

You may want to contact Dave Mathews the SAAC '67 Registrar regarding the '67 GT350 #23,

By the way.  The early cars have a following due to the "different from later built" cars features.  So, get ready for those "I've never seen that" coments.  Is a small sub-group of Shelby owners, we're all like brothers.  Welcome.

Sorry for your loss as well. It's good that it stays within the family.
