for occasional track time or long distance travel.

I assumed painters tape, but would like to be certain to use a type / brand that does not leave residue from the adhesive.
Also want to be sure it is not so strong it could pull paint or clearcoat off.

Thanks for any tips!

I used Scotch #2093. It came off very easily, and cleanly, even when left on for two days. But a few larger stones went through the tape and dinged the paint. In key areas, you might want to double up with multiple layers.

How long did it take to do that?

Did I see the car at Willow Springs COCOA event last Oct?  Looks familiar. Nice ride.

Thanks for the reply and info.

All that effort and still a few chips...argh!!! Doubling up may be the answer for the critical areas. I'll keep that in mind too.

Thanks again!

I'm a big fan of the clear bra type plastic.  I have it on the vulnerable areas of my Kirkham, and even with several days of track use, there are some nicks in the plastic, but nothing that's penetrated into the paint.

Doesn't 3M have some type of permanent clear plastic application? I had considered something like it for the Hertz.

I've used the XPEL track wrap with very good protection from rocks, tire rubber, etc. You can easily peel it off afterward and have a clean surface with no residue.

I think it took about 1.5 - 2 hours to apply. No, I was not at the Oct event. I was at the Spring event, and then the LA SAAC event this year. Planning to do the Fall COCOA event this year.
