6S1415 for sale in Hemmings for $100K
« on: July 18, 2019, 02:57:47 PM »
Hi all,

This car is currently being advertised and offer for sale in Hemmings.com.  I have read the very brief description but can not figure out why the price is at $100K.  I'd think it would be higher.  What am I missing?  Do you suppose the original engine is gone?  The original automatic is long gone due to the 4sp conversion.  What's up with this car?  I have not checked the registry.  I will post the Hemmings' images later tonight if no one beats me to it.

Also, IIRC, the orignal rear end gear ratio would have been 3.50:1, not the 3.89:1.

Thanks

Cory

Total restoration completed in early 1980's by Chris Smith Creative Autoworks. Repaint, back with gold strips in in 1986. Restoration included a complete engine rebuild, body, interior and suspension. The car originally had an automatic transmission and now has a T-10 4 speed. The rear end gears have been changed from 389 to 411. Total millage on the car is 790 since it was restored. I am the 3rd owner since delivered to Hertz in Atlanta Georgia.

Asking price, $100,000.

Quite a looker!

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Looks like the car was posted/advertised on Hemmings about 4 months back using the same pictures

All kinds of possibilities but I know nothing or have an explanation why its being run again.

SAAC sticker on shock tower should have given it at least a 20% premium on value. 8)

Don’t know the car but just saying that a few years ago it was common that a 66 that had been born auto could be bought under 100k easy if it was a “driver.”

And I’m not saying this one isn’t nicer. That can only be determined in person.

I spoke with the owner about two months ago when it was listed at $110k. He's owned the car since the 80's but could not verify that the car had a Ford VIN under the shelby tag or anywhere on the other fender aprons. The partial VIN that is listed in the ad (it's missing one digit) was taken from some paperwork provided to him from when the car was restored in the 80s before his ownership. But, he couldn't actually find the VIN number anywhere on the car.  The "6S1415" stamp was also not present on the top fender aprons near the shock towers.  The car does have the evenly spaced export brace, but clearly there's an issue with the fender aprons/front clip. Needless to say, I passed on the car.

A common practice...But(big but)if you do it “right” you are likely breaking all sorts of state AND federal laws....Personally I prefer  real cars.... ::)
