Does anybody know anything about this distributor?  A friend bought a 67 Tiger and this came with it.

Thanks Bob, Do you know if they came on Tigers.  This is a Mark 2 Tiger.

A day two part for a Tiger also. It did not come on Tigers originally.

It could just be the decal. They were available separately at the same time.

I have a Shelby-Mallory distributor I bought 45-48 yrs ago.

The second owner of our black car had his Shelby authorized dealer install one. (I have the receipt but I don't recall the date on it. I have not looked at is since maybe 1999 when I last talked and corresponded with the second owner.) His first person account went like this. The original ignition distributor developed a problem and the service department told the owner that it was X to fix the old one and Y to install a new replacement. It was much quicker and lower cost labor and parts wise to replace than rebuild the original assembly for the car.


Fast forward to circa 1985. We bought the car in late 1983. I removed the distributor and took it to Pat Gray's Speed Shop. Pat mounted it on the test machine. The timing curve timing matched what Ford published for 1965 HP289s. We didn't change the curve and the assembly is still in the black car today.

Shelby decals are all worth at least a hundred.

I think that in the old ads said that they were "blue printed". That was always good for the mystic of the part . I think that they had a more aggressive mechanical advance curve then the factory duel point distributors.

  The decals were added in '68 when the catalogs changed from COBRA to SHELBY. The sticker was added to a production  ( over the counter) Ford dual point distributor. As Bob said never used on a "production" vehicle , over the counter only. In '69 , the switch was made to the Mallory version which featured a "Shelby specific" blue cap which is very rare these days. MOST of the Mallory units had red caps and some tan. They featured the aluminum tag and "Shelby Equipped" logo on the tag. I too have a 289-302 version with the original blue cap.  For $100 + shipping someone else could own it.
