Some where some one is driving their collector car for the last time but they don't know it . Drive your car every time like it could be the last memory of it .

Here are some of my pictures from SAAC 1.   I have many more, but it will take time for me to scan them and prepare to post (so much easier thses days with digital cameras).

Mike Shoen's Daytona Coupe, CSX2602

Mike offered to let me drive it

Gordon Gimball's Cobra that I missed out on (better that he got it and put it to good use)

Rick Bawden's Cobra

Royal Kreiger's Cobra

Mark Hefte's Cobra

Tomb of the Unknown Cobra

Legends in the parking lot

Tom Payne, Carroll Shelby, Al Dowd, Allen Grant

That's all for now...gotta fire up the scanner again

I am eager to see any and all of the photos you can post.

My KR's PO lived in that area, in those days.  Not sure if he was a SAAC member, but I'm hoping to see my car!
Many thanks!!

Okay Guys,

I found just a few strays in a box. These were crappy pics.  I doubled up a couple of them just because these were prints from a box film camera an old 110 Kodak box camera if you remember those. I know I have more back in CA (I'm currently in NY). These are nothing special as I said, but if anyone who went to SAAC 1 you probably saw these cars too.

Cheers,
~Earl J

That's around the time I got bit by the cobra fangs. Look at all the cars with day 2 mods, cars painted refrigerator white, mud flaps,67 wheels on 66s, wrong wheels on almost every car,big and littles for that stance ,stereos, aftermarket shifters, exhaust systems, racing stickers to adorn the engine compartment. Nobody cared back then they were just 10 year old used and abused hot rods, what a great time to be part of this automotive culture. :)

RE: Day 2 and "wrong" in same sentence. Those were improvements. Fatter tires better handling different color and stereos buyer preference. Not a concours guy. Prefer that everyone enjoy their car to the fullest. Those "mods" are part of the history of the car and correct for it. Too many are becoming 100 point museum pieces. The only one having fun with those is the transport driver who sneaks it off the trailer 1/2 way to the next show and burns a little rubber.
