why continue to hide the one and only real mccoy

Some do not enjoy the attention nor the consent badgering from people would surely continue to try and buy the car. Know a number of owners that sort of wish they had not brought out their car to a show for that very same reason while many more than leave their cars covered in a garage or warehouse for the same reason.  This may limit how they wish to enjoy their car but its their car and their choice.

Plus if this can had been known of for decades and had allot of exposure it would limit the impact of the current situation and choices being made.

I had one guy force me to the side of the road like a cop would and yell out the window "hey, do you know what that is?" I was tempted to say, "Sure. Do you know what a Smith & Wesson is?"

It's getting ridiculous out there. I rarely go to any shows any more for that reason. You get all these local ganstas that are gonna' make you an offer you can't refuse.

still not convinced this  is not an air car
Some where some one is driving their collector car for the last time but they don't know it . Drive your car every time like it could be the last memory of it .

still not convinced this  is not an air car

we have never said it was either, just a bit rough mustang

but having said that, we to viewed what was left of vehicle number two #558

even if you could replace it with day one sheet metal, correct stampings, date codes etc

it can only be that particular original car once

the question we pose is at what point does one call it a rebody ?

also recently a 1965 shelby gt350 sold at auction for just a bit over $100,000 to us this truly put a value on car 558 and car 559

your thoughts my friend...

Buyer beware: There are more rebodied cars out there than you think

When you use a 1967 body under a 1968 VIN its a rebody.

Im not sure who “we” are? But, when you use a 1967 body under a 1968 VIN its a rebody.

#you cant fool everyone

we the people, the plain folks

so would it be OK to use a good 1968 stang body for this project?

original 1968 bullitt stunt car gets a 1968 stang body....its like 1968 all over again ...

then all would be honky dory?

That’s not for me to decide. The owners can do whatever they like, replace whatever they like.

Let’s start being real and stop trying to deceive people, by saying this is the car.

Pete truly do not understand what you mean by "Let's start being real and stop deceiving people, by saying this is the car"

So this car is not the chase car used in the movie Bullit?

We truly thought that they had found remnants of it and rebodied it.

Found ..yes

Have they ( the owners) ever said it was rebodied?

I missed it, if they did. My apologies.

The only thing I have ever seen is it was authenticated?

If it's a full rebody , it fooled Kevin Marti who "authenticated" it. One thing FOR SURE ....
The engine and trans won't be original to the car!!!!

How could an expert see a '67 unibody as a '68? I could understand that on a pilot plant car but not on a regular production car.
