I really don't see how this can be advertised as a Hertz GT 350H Shelby lighter.  A Hertz lighter, yes, but I don't see any link to the Shelby.  Take a look at EBay completed listings under "Hertz Zippo lighter Mustang".  The ones that sold for crazy money are not even Mustangs!  The one that was actually a Mustang sold for $60 which must have been a buy-me-now.  All very interesting.

  +1 A ridiculous connection. It should have a manufacturing date and I'll bet it doesn't jive either.

I agree - the Sports Car Club items circa '66 - '69 can claim a Shelby connection.

That lighter does look similar to several that I have.

My father-in-law was national sales manager at Hertz from 1964 thru 1970.

Here is one of his lighters that I have.
