HiPo 289 fan blade with date blem A62 (with 2 upside down)
« on: September 11, 2019, 03:14:56 PM »
Hi all,

Any ideas on the this fan blade and the date code A62 (2 is upside down).  The typical date code on these fan blades would be like A66 for January 1966.  I have seen several of these fan blades with date code anomalies.  What gives?  (I will post images later tonight if no one beats me to it.)

I would consider with the date code anomaly, it really could be used on any 65-66 HiPo Mustang and be consider OEM correct, but if you are going to pay the big money, why not wait for a correctly date coded part.  The seller will have a hard time getting the big money for this fan blade.

Could the date code be January 1962?  I think this is too early for this blade, so it can't be 1962.

Thanks

Cory

  Cory ,
The likelyhood of a Jan '62 , C3OZ part number fan is remote as you have suspected. It is probably a Jan '67. The seller is a local "flipper" with ties to the long defunct FPP. While it appears to be genuine and not a repop , I agree it will be tough to get top dollar for it. OK for "being there" on a driver but "could" be an issue with "da judge".

Hi Randy,

If the A62 (upside down 2) was intended to be A67 because the supplier lost or damaged the 7, would this fan blade then be service part?  IIRC, the 1967 GT350 did not get this style of fan blade.

I like your theory.  The upside down 2 is also used on some clock faces as the 7.  Using the upside down 2 was their best solutions to the problem.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes Cory , I agree with your belief it is a service ( OTC) part. Service parts "often" lack some of the detail that assembly line parts had and in fact could have received a bit less scrutiny .

Here’s one.  I believe installed on my car in 1988. Service replacement ?

Hi Dave,

I don't recall the repop's having the Ford script, so it is looking like  the A62 (upside down 2) is a service part.  My guess is they made a bunch at the end, all with the same date codes.

Thanks for sharing.
