Owner of 6S2376 Yellow convertible
« on: September 28, 2019, 02:07:19 PM »
With current info on the red, blue and green 66 GT350 convertibles, curious about yellow 6S2376.  Is there public info on the ownership and current condition ?  Has it been shown at any SAAC events in the past few years?

I haven’t bought the new 66 registry yet.  Wasn’t sure what info on the 4 convertibles are included.

Welcome to the forum.  The yellow one is in there.  Has a white top.  Parting words describe it as in #2 condition older restoration to like new condition and looks like it has seen little usage except on display and shows its age.  It's a four speed with factory air conditioning.

How does the hobby in general feel about these cars?  Sometimes it seems they are right up there with any 1966 SHELBY, and perhaps more special being convertibles.  But aren’t they more analogous to the CSX continuation cobra series from the ‘80s?  I mean, they weren’t built in ‘66.

I don’t mean to be so cynical, I think they are cool as heck, but what do the experts on here feel?

4 were built in period, I believe you may be thinking of the 12 continuation verts.

I don't believe the yellow one is one of the 80s continuation cars.  It says in the 66 Registry that is was shipped to Hi Performance Motors back in 1966.

I believe the continuation cars have value because they have Shelby's actual paw prints on them.  With enough passage of time, fewer people will care whether it came out of the 80s or 60s.  (Maybe they will).  But it's like the Viking sword called the Ulfberht.  There were replicas made of the Ulfberht by artisans in the 9th and 10 centuries right around the time as the original (old habits die hard don't they), not the same quality of steel but they are just as revered as valuable artifacts due to how old they have become.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulfberht_swords

But who knows ultimately what future generations will think of the continuation convertibles.  If they last that long and don't end up a big pile of iron oxide again by negligent owners.

+1 . Easy to get mixed up on this. The numbers for the continuation 66 convertibles start with 6S2381 .  6S2376 was completed at SA in 1966 .

actually 2376 and 2378  have changed hands recently and both are owned by the same person who at this time wants to remain anonymous.  I have been  helping him with assorted parts and services  and will release his name when he tells me its OK

Maybe I can get a freaky story out of 6s2376.  The horror behind the egg yellow 66 Shelby convertible.  I'm in that mood now as I sit here with final editing before print time.
