I'm watching the auction online and just saw this 1967 Shelby GT500 recreation / continuation sell for $161,700.

...wow.

Probably the nicest one I've seen. Bet it was more to have built.

Completely agree.  Most likely, it was close to $200K all in to build.  And, it's still crazy for me to see recreations going for as much (sometimes more) than the real deal.

Anyone ever hear of a car they call Eleanor?   :P

I was surprised that this KR didn't go for more.  It sounded like a great car - $165K all in.

Back when that car was done (2000 ?) it was considered one of the best. It was referred to as the Timken car being that the owners family owned Timken bearings. When I saw it recently many of the rare parts had been removed by previous owners I was told.

Yes.  List starting at $189k.  Dealer up in Sacramento was trying to sell one about a year ago at $200k.  I like the looks of this one better than the rest of their Eleanor style offerings.  Decent deal if that's what you were looking for.

I saw the KR years ago at Les bears  when I was there helping him with some stuff.   Car had original tires and hub caps  was pretty impressive.   Looks like someone  decided to keep some of the expensive rare parts on car gambling people at auction would not realize it.
