These "club" circuits have become popular. I can only imagine what having a vehicle flown out to Oahu would cost......$$$$$$$. This facility is a recent one and if I lived closer would be the preferred one based on topography and aesthetics. Otherwise it's hard to beat what we have already at VIR, Road America, Road Atlanta, COTA etc.

It is one of two tracks being planned.  The other is a public/private county track that is expected to feature everything from a 1/4 mile drag strip to a dirt oval. This private track focuses more on a road course. The main island of Oahu is the only island county without any racetrack.  There are tracks on the Big Island of Hawaii, Maui and Kauai.  Go figure.
I have talked with developers of both proposed tracks.  Lots of politics and challenges for each.  This is why all of is have to hop on planes and take advantage of SAAC Conventions around the country.
Convention here?  There will be complaints of mai tai hangovers, excessive sunburn and that little expensive problem of getting the cars here and back from what we refer to as The Big Rock.  Ask us how we know.  We do ship or fly cars, but transport to the west coast is about 2400 miles.  A significant ouch. 8)

Shhhhh... Rental Race cars.....

Tech will be full of Hertz, Budget, National, and other "Brands".......

(BTW - Been to Club Motorsports in NH, what a track!!! Scenic and always changing elevations. Just no big hotels nearby, just like Lime Rock. But, I'd go if the convention there...)

I hope so!!  Would be the only time I could get my wife to go to SAAC event!!

The proposed track hype being parlayed to the media and politicians:

The concept view of the track:

Not the final layout by any means, but it will have elevations.  The site is about one mile from my warehouse shop where I rehabiltated 6S2178 (see latest Registry).  With the politics in Hawaii emulating those in California, it will be interesting to see if this comes to pass.  I am more hopeful for the public track (no membership required) which is about two miles from warehouse.

There is always the possibility of a winter SAAC Does Hawaii mini convention, right? It is nicer to shovel sand instead of snow.   ::)
