Possible return to Bruce Larson's Barn - Shelby Event

Bruce Larson, who owned and drove one of the Dragonsnake Cobras, along with being a pioneer in the early days of Funny Cars with his USA-1 Floppers, has an amazing barn filled with his old race cars and memorabilia from his era of drag racing. There is a special section just for his time with his dragonsnake. Many years ago, the second and third Regional meets stopped there, and it was an amazingly popular visit.

I have been in touch with Bruce, and he is open to a Shelby event there, though no time yet, as he has yet to finalize his racing schedule for 2018 (yes, he is still racing a nostalgia nitro Funny Car!)

This would be a combined event with Team Shelby, so we can have a large and impressive turn-out of Shelby vehicles from all years.

Nothing confirmed yet, but I wanted to open the idea up, allow you to comment and share your thoughts.

I would definitely be interested in attending.  I do not think I would drive my Shelby that far but would still like to check it out.

Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

Corey it's only about 115 miles for you, to Harrisburg. Easier than Hershey or Carlisle

Steve, I have been to Carlisle and Hershey but never in my Shelby.  I know I am talking to a member of the 200,000 mile plus club but I am barley scratching the 2000 mile club.  Maybe we caravan there?

Danno,
Your SAAC NJ neighbors to the East might be interested in such an event too!
Please keep us updated.

Thanks!

The man @ the top of the mountain did not fall there!

I would be interested in that. I know Bruce does something in like November, but if he did something in the Spring/Summer, definitely be down for a Warmer Weather Event

That would be a great trip! Just hope it isn't the weekend of May 19th. That will be IN SAAC's 41 event, and I kinda have to be there.

For sure, maybe we get a bunch of the locals to make it a real "road trip". It's shorter than our trip to Philly

Yes, this is still a possibility, Bruce has asked me to check back with him early Summer to see how his Fall schedule is shaping up. He is still touring with his latest "Vintage" USA-! Camaro Nitro FC, so once he gives a date, I will get things going.
