Just got back from seeing the film. I had my doubts but I was thoroughly entertained. Matt Damon was at least 100% better then I expected . He sold the CS persona well IMO. A few silly screen mess ups that were not historically correct which spoiled the illusion that I tried to ignore. It was frustrating for me thinking that it would be common sense to get someone knowledgeable to sign off on scene props. GT40 427 engine with modern bowls AND modern Holley electric choke. Another was the scene with Miles character critiquing GT40 typical GT40 4 barrel carburetor performance after test drive and then Phil Remington character calling for a Holley throttle body all the while Weber stacks (modern electronic fuel injection type) in the background. The Superformance Daytona coupe with 17/18 inch wheels was another flub that was hard to not notice given it was shown several times . All in all however the contrived vintage looking shots were wonderful to look at regardless of the short comings in my mind.

You are the equivalent of a professional musician hearing wrong notes in Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto, which is laudable, but the general audience that hears the concerto won't even hear those wrong notes.  The orchestra gets a standing ovation regardless.  I'm sure it will be fine.  I did not get to see the movie tonight because I was encumbered at the office.  Thank you for your review though, Mr. Gaines.

Went to my small town's first showing last night. I enjoyed the film from an entertainment point of view, plenty of inaccuracies, but all in all I really enjoyed it.

Here's hoping the directors cut makes it to a DVD.

My family, 3 daughters and my wife, has pre purchased tickets for a 7:00 showing at the BTX theater in the Annapolis Mall for tonight.  My 2 older daughters are coming in from out of town for the event.  They say they just want to watch me watch the movie.  Either way it is going to be a great family affair.

That was my take as well, Bob.  I think to really get the story right, you would have to double the length of an already long movie,  plus source a lot of difficult to get cars and parts, and have them at your disposal for several months of filming.  My advice is to not go in expecting a documentary of the history of Shelby-American.  This was about Shelby's involvement with the GT40 team, and I thought it was more of a tribute to Ken Miles than anything else, which was wonderful to see.  Now I want to go watch it again!

I did get a kick out of the Chevy LSx head sitting in the background in Miles' repair shop.

Maybe this will stop and replace all the fascinanation with that movie about a leaping modified silver Mustang called Eleanor (second movie) and inspire the uninformed to learn about the history of CS and his real cars and employees. 8)
