Because it is  licensed by a Shelby board of directors to a special designated company, it is said that it is not an assembled replica or kit, though it is a new numbered chassis series roller sold incomplete awaiting  an engine of any type installed.  I am confused and amused at the same time.

I know the driver who drove the Miles GT40 in the movie, and he also drove some of the Porsches.  He said the mocked up Porsche cars were very difficult to drive.  They were just crudely built replicas with Subaru engines in the back.  Since they were not set-up as race cars or were high quality builds, they were tough to get around the track, and he is a great driver.
