Yes, C6, generally nothing special in the way of high torque or performance parts within.     ;)

     Scott.

With that big motor would the 1/2 shaft be cast iron or aluminum?

Aluminum tailshaft housing , nothing special at all.  "Some" Lincolns had an odd output shaft with three (or so) splines but nothing in the Ford line had it. Not a source for a CJ iron tail housing.

Yes, three on the C6's, 1966 to 1969/70?; but only two with the MX transmissions, 1961-1965.  The large square recessed reliefs in the shaft and slip sleeve accept a rectangular insert housing a row of needle bearings, this engineering exhibiting only a rolling verses the greater sliding resistance otherwise practiced, thou at a greater monetary cost; and permitting the least amount of resistance to the movement in the relationship of the transmission an drive shaft assy's; therefor assisting in providing the occupants of their "land yacht" the smoothest of rides as one traverses the unappreciated bumps in the road.      ::)

Also realize there is more than one cast iron tail housing for a C6, and only one (that I know of) being for the CJ.         ;)

Was wondering if there was another application where one could find a CJ C6.
If it comes out of a Torino will it fit a Mustang?

Yes but beware that the column shift version has the wrong ( downward) shift lever. The rest of the parts are the same. Iron tails were also used on '70-71 429 CJ/SCJs.

Would a 70/71 tranny out of a floor shift 429 Torino bolt right in?

As long as the shift arm faces up, it will bolt right in.

Sorry, perhaps I'm a little slow (actually, I know I am!  ??? ), but I missed what Mustang it is your trying to bolt a CJ C6 into, with what engine?

I should clarify. A 68-69-70 428 CJ Mustang, Cougar and 68-69 Cyclone and Torino with the floor shift will interchange. A 70 or 71 Torino or Cyclone with floor shift will have a 429 which has a different bolt pattern than a 428 so that will interchange with a 71 Mustang 429. The tail shaft and servos will interchange regardless of shift arm or bolt pattern.

+1 A 429-460 C6 Will "only " work on a 351"M" -400-429-460. A C6 for an FE will "only" work on a 352-428 and the 351C C6 will only work on a 289-351C. The "internals" and appropriate tail shaft housings all interchange. So NO a 429 C6 will not bolt up to an FE.
