Interesting, as there have been rumors that Ford would bring back the Mach 1 for years.
Nothing beats a classic!

Side-Oilers

Kind of makes sense, in a marketing perspective, bringing it back to shore up the name-credibility of the Mach E.

Especially because most (all?) of the Mach E's intended buyers weren't born when the original Mach 1 hit dealers.  They may have no idea there was ever a car called Mach 1.
Current:
2006 FGT, Tungsten. Whipple, HRE 20s, Ohlin coil-overs. Top Speed Certified 210.7 mph.

Kirkham Cobra 427.  482-inch aluminum side-oiler. Tremec 5-spd.

1970 Ranchero GT 429
1969 LTD Country Squire 429

Ford would love to stop paying the McQueen family for each Bullitt Mustang they build.

I'd say they probably wasn't born even if you added 20 yrs to that (1989) ???

Does Ford pay McQueen's relatives, or does Ford pay Warner Bros?   Doesn't Warner still own the rights to the film?

I believe they still pay Warner Bros. I recall seeing something on the paperwork (owners manual?) for my 2009 Bullitt. Don't have time to look for it now, but maybe tomorrow.

Looks like Warner Bros has the copyright and trademark for the name Bullitt so they would likely be getting $omething from Ford to use the name.
