Hello,
I would like to know if these rims are original or reproductions.

Thanks

Rickmustang

I believe originals were not DOT stamped. So the rims are reproduction but the centers may be original

Also, originals to not have the safety bead.   Re-pops and many restored Cragars have the safety bead.

I remember reading an old SOA or Marque news letter to install trim rings to cover up the corrosion on the rims.  I don't recall which OEM trim ring was for the best fit.

+2 Repops , NO safety bead on originals OR DOT cert. VERY difficult to get "wheel hoops" (outers) these days without the safety bead.

Hi Randy,

So how did Wheels Vintiques make the 66 GT350H Hertz Magnum 500? I believe the wheels have the safety bead visible only with no tire.  The outside looks just like the original Hertz Magnum 500.  Does that sound right?

Would anybody, by chance, have a pic of an original Crager without the the safety beadlock?
Thanks

Thank you Brant.
What about the facing side per chance?
I've got a Carryover in the shop with presumably original wheels.
The inside is smooth w/o a beadlock, however the facing side is a countoured beadlock.

Pics below show:
- the Carryover rim which is almost too shiney to discern;
- a wheel depiction showing similar beadlock contouring on the  wheel face side to the Carryover rim; and
- a 1964 Crager S/S. This early Crager clearly is without beading/ contouring on the inside nor the outside.

Do original Shelby Cragers have a contoured safety beadlock on the facing side w/o an inside safety bead unlike the early Crager S/S which has neither?

      Corey ,
IMHO a company would have to have the outers "made" and with the understanding that they would be used in an "off highway" application. All current "new" wheel manufacturers MUST have safety beads per federal law to be used on the street.
