« on: December 19, 2019, 12:32:55 PM »
Hello,

Does anybody know the history from this K-code car? It is a fastback with a 363 CI Ford crate engine. It should be in california and went to an auction in 2016. It is now in the Netherlands.

Hi Mustangman-nl,

Not much to go on here.

6 = 1966
R = San Jose Build
09 = Fastback Mustang
K = 289 Special (HiPo)
160587 = Very early February 1966 scheduled build date, predicted 2-1-66.  Check HiPo registry for cars with close VIN's.

The 363CI is not OEM to the car and could hurt the value.   Do you have the image of the door data plate?  More can be told from that.

Do you have the auction info from 2016?  Any other photo's?

Best of luck

Cory

What are your intentions with the car? Make it more original K code Mustang ? Make it more original Shelby looking. Or just drive it and enjoy it as is ?

@Bob, I want to enjoy and drive the car in the way it is now. Maybe I want to change the transmission in the near future, it has a Manual T10 four speed at the moment. The next question is, which automatic overdrive transmission is the bes choice with around the 500 HP?

"The VIN is not listed in the fourth edition of the K-code registry."

Use the registry to establish an estimated scheduled build date if desired by looking at San Jose VIN's near this car.

Best of luck
