"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Yea going more than twice the speed limit gets you arrested, and more than likely the cars impounded.

If so it sure got publicity. And then the cops will take the impounded cars out and do 100+ themselves.

I doubt it was for publicity.  Driving that fast on a public road is not what GM wants to portray.

I wouldn't be surprised if those two engineers will be looking for new jobs within the week.

No such thing as bad publicity.

Trust me, that was not a GM-sponsored publicity stunt.

A good buddy of mine is very high up in the GM public relations hierarchy.  There's no way he'd buy into that kind of a scheme.  (And he's a lifelong hard-core fast car guy.)

In these days of hugely influential (good or bad) social media, car companies are no longer doing off-the-books illegal driving stunts to gain publicity.  Just one bad thing happening, or even the suggestion of improper corporate citizenship, and the social media trolls (as well as conventional media) would inundate.

If GM had wanted to stage a "Corvette engineers get stopped by Bowling Green PD" sort of thing, it would've been cleared with everyone involved, done on a closed road with safety equipment and personnel in place, etc.

Yes and no doubt they'd have embedded attorneys monitoring like the military does to determine if a shot can happen or an attack launched. Lawyers. Shesh. Oh wait a minute...

I believe you.

I was trying to be sarcastic. Hard to do in type over the interweb.

No prob, 2112.  Agreed that it is often difficult to get subtle meaning across in a forum.

I guess that's why a lot of people use the little yellow faces.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
