Does anyone know the approximate Ford VIN for the first '65 fastbacks that were built. I have a friend with one, with some features that are odd. Last numbers are 154081, I think. I know it starts with 154, and ends in 081. I might be missing a 0 in the middle. I believe the first mustang built at San Jose would have been 100001, but that would have been in 1964 before the fastback body style was starting to be built. Thanks in advance for any help with this question. Ron
Original owner of 6S550. Owned since 1967. 64,000 Miles, all body original except hood and front valance. All glass original except windshield. Still has aluminum 4 speed. Has replacement Mico.  Also own 1966 Mustang convertible. They are drivers, not trailer queens.

98SVT - was 06GT

Google is your friend: Doesn't sound like 154 is right should be 250 for Dearborn or 125 for San Jose. There were probably some built at the Dearborn Pilot Plant with earlier numbers.

1st Dearborn 65 Mustang: 5FXXX250001 (1st known fastback - 5F09K250009)
1st San Jose 65 Mustang: 5RXXX125001

Ford did have a shutdown period for retooling of the Mustang lines in early August, 1964. This is when the switch from generators to alternators was made. When they started back up, the VIN numbers were rounded up to 5FXXX250001 at Dearborn, and 5RXXX125001 at San Jose.
