Has anyone noticed that the new GT500 has no Shelby emblems on its body?

Could this be history repeating itself, Ford taking over its production totally and not paying royalties again?

There will be royalty payments for the name.  The only "Shelby"  on the current GT350 is barely visible on the front splitter below the bumper.  Of course, when the SA factory puts out  a Shelby named vehicle, it has to have "Powered by Ford" on the fenders. 8)

Just had s friend send me his 2020 500 pictures,  nothing at all but cobra emblems and GT500 on front bumper.

Maybe in the future Ford will market it as a GT500.

That is very interesting.  Why call it a Shelby at all?

Although, after the popularity of the movie, Ford may be rethinking their decision.
Current:
2006 FGT, Tungsten. Whipple, HRE 20s, Ohlin coil-overs. Top Speed Certified 210.7 mph.

Kirkham Cobra 427.  482-inch aluminum side-oiler. Tremec 5-spd.

Previous:
1968 GT500KR #2575 (1982-2022)
1970 Ranchero GT 429
1969 LTD Country Squire 429
1963 T-Bird Sport Roadster
1957 T-Bird E-model

Taking over total control of production?

That started in May 1967.

Shelby Licensing also retains the GT500 designation so they will still get a royalty.

You have the bean counters always looking at ways to save money.

Dont you remember when they started to put one ( yes 1 ) lock only on the drivers side of a Mustang ?

Multiply that lock + the mechanism + labor x how many Mustangs since they incorporated that = 1 gazillion dollars

It is almost as much as I love that since 2011, Mustangs do not have a key lock trunk.  The trunk utilizes an electric lock.  Now if your battery fails, where do you usually keep your jumper cables or power pack unit?  In the trunk!. Thanks, Ford.

My remedy now is to keep one of the paper back book size lithium power packs under the drivers seat.  They may not start a V8 but they give you enough juice to allow the trunk power lock to open so you can get the bigger stuff to start the car. 8)

Senor Don,  we had a 1999 Kobra and it had no hole on the passenger side. Not sure if the pre 1998 Mustangs had one.

True about the removal of key locks.  The new GT350 doesn't have visible ones either.  To access the driver door when the power is out requires the special removal of the back o the door handle to expose the key hole. Does the removal of thelock improve the mileage ratings or something? 8)
