1966 GT350 / Carryover Value Circa 1996
« on: March 16, 2020, 11:00:47 AM »
I'm looking to help out the widow that sold me 6S141 last April.  In short, she's looking to file her taxes and she's being asked for the value of the car circa 1996, as this is when her husband passed away and she took sole ownership of the car.

I've looked through the latest registry, and I was able to gather some information, and I'm guessing that someone out there might have old publications with listing and / or selling prices for Carryover / non-Carryover 1966 GT350s for sale in the 1995 to 1997 date range:
- Shelby American
- Snakebite adds
- Hemmings
- Etc.

Please let me know if you have any information, as I'd love to help her out as much as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Toilet humor. Timely as well! Lol!

LOL.  Bathroom humor never gets old!

And, seriously, if someone has some issues stashed away, she could really use the help.  Pictures would be great, if you can send them.

Thanks!

I'm missing my Snake Bite Bulletins after 1994 for a few years.  In July of 94 there are a few 66 GT 350s listed in the $30-40K range.  I'm sure some others would have some bulletins for '96.  You may also want to check auction house history for GT 350's sold in that timeframe.  Pretty sure that B-J has that available online.  Not sure about others.

I'd try to stay with private party sales and not auction results.  Maybe use auctions to some extent to help get a general idea.

Definitely not use BJ for the standard but for help in steering in the right direction coupled with private party sales. JMO

Kind of tricky, need to remember what they advised the state at the time of registration. It should have been recorded then by the state. Taxes where paid based on that number ( sales or purchase ) was given before title and tag was issued.

Probably could check with Hagerty or Heacock, I think they were in business back then.

See attached SAAC Snakebite #59 August 1996 - contacts have been blocked-out.  Obviously these are asking prices.  Hope this helps...

To mirror Charles input, I believe one of those sites showned a graph of long term valuation including the past.... I tossed all my 1990s Hemmings just a few months ago. Though, Mustang Times, Road & Track, and other mags could be informative... will.chime in again later.

Thanks Tom.  I checked, and some of the sites have information, but it doesn't go back that far (example: Hagerty online only goes back to the mid-2000s).

Let me know if you find anything good - thanks again!
