Decided to head back tonight, the boys are still standing guard. Spoke to one of the officers and they had their first arrest today,  a lady tourist was told she could not enter. Subject became defiant,  but after the handcuffs were securely on she modified her behaviour.

I see that lawyers are not allowed to be Conch citizens.  I am crestfallen.

Hawaii is slowly re-opening parks, beaches and numerous businesses to residents but visitors will have to wait until the end of June for now.  Arrivals have to stay in hotel room for two weeks  quarantine.  Who wants to do that?  A bunch of twenty and thirty something tourist Covidioits keep arriving and ignoring the regulations and are arrested, hit with a major fine and escorted back to the next available flight out of here.  It is the only way we can look to opening up restaurants, bars and other businesses without problem of new cases being brought in and having to shut down again. 8)

Who would want to spend the time or the money to do that?

We can't figure it out either, except low air fares make some want to chance coming and avoid the rules.  You can't fix stupid so sometimes you have to arrest it.  8)

Same here and as far as arrests we have had a few tourists locked up also

Low air fares that were put in place to assist returning residents, mostly college kids.  Plus illegal vacation rentals promoting Hawaii as a good place to ride out the virus and shut downs.  Perps are  easy to spot as they ignore shut down rules for parks, hiking trails  and beaches and then post brag photos and messages on social media. 8)

Aloha Don,

Gotcha, here are some quick numbers as of last week:

Florida confirmed 45,588 cases of COVID-19 , with 1,973 deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus.

Miami-Dade has 15,658 cases of COVID-19 with 561 deaths, the highest numbers in the state.

Broward has 6,243 cases and 279 deaths.

Palm Beach County has 4,524 cases and 275 deaths.

Monroe County has 100 cases and three deaths.

We mostly reside in Miami,  but are fortunate to have a residence in Monroe or the FL keys.

Looking at the situation early we opted to relocate in February. Fortunately for us the majority of our neighbors in Monroe, are from out of the State so in essence our neighborhood maybe at 10 to 15% capacity if that.

With a dock in the back of our property with direct access to the Atlantic keeps us pretty much totally isolated . Having said that we do understand that no one is completely immune. When we do go out into the public we observe all the required mandates currently in place.

Life goes on
