Alternator and idler pulley brackets
« on: March 25, 2020, 11:35:13 AM »
Hopefully my journey to collect these parts will come to a happy ending soon. I'm looking for the part numbers for the correct alternator brackets and the AC idler pulleys for a 67 GT500 with AC & PS. I hear that using the correct crank balancer and pulleys requires a unique alternator bracket.

For me, everything seemed anti-climatic to the point I actually thought about buying another project car?

I thought this was a relatively simple question. Is there some reason that nobody is answering???

I thought this was a relatively simple question. Is there some reason that nobody is answering???

I wrote a "Newbies read this" post several years ago that has the following bullet point:

8: Be patient for a response, do not make a follow up post 10,20,30,60 minutes after you asked a question at 3am. Not everyone who knows the answer is up or on their computer when you are.

Perhaps the people in the know are not glued to their computers when you are. Be patient, people have lives outside of the forum. If you can't be patient, that is on you, not anyone else.

Ford parts for 1967 390 and 427. Your numbers may be engineering numbers not actual  part numbers.

Thanks for that info. Is that something that's available online? I'm trying to figure out the shorthand in the "Model" column and I've figured out that the first item is A for auto and S is for standard trans, T/E is thermactor, A/C is air. What is P/C?

A is full sized Ford car line, b is fairlane,  s is thunderbird, pc is passenger car. Mustang is denoted by “f”

Those are from ford parts books. When you went to the dealer it was the long row of books they went through to look up your part. I bought  a set 25+ years ago from Ford printer.  Mine are the 1975 printing. In the 80s an 90s they were put on microfiche. I have a set but you need  a special reader to look at them

So I only see F for mustang in the 390 section (no F in the 428 section). Under the designated parts for the A,B,F (w/A/C less T/E)-Except P/C it looks like the adjustment arm part number is C6AZ 10145-A and the mounting bracket is C6AZ 10156-A. Am I reading the table right? (sorry for the dumb questions) How do I know that the same parts were used on the 428 in a GT500?

Yes, those brackets are correct for non-emission equipped car with air. The engineering numbers may not be, but they are pre-68 style. They'll work fine.

The TE is usually truck. My bracket pump to bottom bolt is thick like what you have. If you're running an Edelbrock water pump, the pump will require material to be removed on the reinforcement webbing on the alternator side of the pump.

Since a 428 was not available in a production 1967 Mustang only a Shelby the 1975 parts books revisions may not have included the Shelby option . Not the only part they eliminated from the books
