Four come to mind, Omega Man(1971), Andromeda Strain(1971), Contagion(2011), I Am Legend(2007). Personally I Like Heston piloting Fords around LA and smokin mutants with automatic weapons. I think there should be a academy awards category for mutants on fire. Your thoughts.

Mad Max the Road Warrior and sequels, Shaun of the Dead, Zombie Land, Night of the Comet.

"Howard the Duck", it was a disaster of epic proportions
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

"On the Beach" - No zombies, just a great sense of sadness, hopelessness and a frustration reminiscent of where we could wind up? I certainly hope that it isn't greatly prophetic. It is definitely a very "heavy subject".

I, like the lone surviving MD in the hospital nursery, "will stay to the end".

I guess there were also a bunch of Twilight Zone episodes that dealt with the end of the world.
Also the Postman. Great cameo with Tom Petty. RIP

The Going Thing

Postman would probably be the bestI have watched. However, Red Dawn may be an advised course of study.

Maybe not apocalyptic in the traditional sense, but I have a special affinity to Falling Down. My wife will just roll her eyes and walk out of the room if I happen to come across it while channel surfing.

Classic Douglas/ Duvall film.

If Burt Reynolds ever made a movie in this category it would be Stroker Ace. He is at peace now, no worries.

"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Let's get to the end of the road by having fun against all odds: "Gumball Rally". 8)

The first "Planet of the Apes".   I like the scene where Charles Heston sees the Statue of Liberty washing to shore.   He gets off the horse and exclaims "Oh my God. I'm back. I am home all the time. They finally really did it. You maniacs!  You blew it up.  Dam you.   God dam you all to hell."  Classic movie.

Stay well.
