Title: 1966 #0083
Post by: 67#0083 on April 22, 2020, 04:45:37 PM
Hello, I have 1967 #0083 and my father owns 1968 #0083. Just for fun, I'm trying to track down more information on what happened to 1966 #0083. The Registry just states that the car was destroyed and the owner has the tag. Any thought/ideas? Thank you! -Ryan

If you could score that tag you could build a killer shrine/memorial that would really wow them at the cars and coffee WITH the other two cars IMHO ;D

You might want to touch base with Howard Pardee - the 1965-66 Registrar. He sometimes has info he can share that's not in the printed Registry for some reason.

Done properly with full acknowledgement that it is a recreation of a destroyed car might work. A problem "could arise" some time in the future when it sells "IF" it was registered as the SAI vin. A more liberal state ( like AZ) could allow that to happen. If "I" were going to do something like that , "I" would steel stamp REPLICA or RECREATION on the aprons to eliminate any doubt. Just "me".

Absolutely! But, I actually have no desire to build a new car from the tag. It would just be neat to frame it with a picture of the car before it was destroyed, or something along those lines.

Hahaha- it could be EPIC! I haven't heard back from Mr. Pardee yet... hoping I can get in touch with the owner. Probably a long shot but it's worth it.

That would be epic to have all the 83's.  I just happen to own the 83rd pinto ever made, so if you're interested...just kidding. ;D

Hahahaha!!!! Brian, I knew it would come to this. I've decided to paint the whole damn car. '67 #83 deserves it.

Dang! Howard got back to me and the last info update was from 1988: John Velting of Michigan. An Internet search revealed a J. Velting Sr. Who died in 1996 and a Jr. who died in 2008. I have a buddy who's a PI.... wish me luck! I might have to start a "Go Fund Me" page. 😂
