I think you will see a lot of big Companies do this, taking advantage of the Virus Pandemic to unload some Debt.
Many will use this strategy as a shield to their benefit, others will truly fold. Those that fold had symptoms previous to this down turn.
I noticed that the Hertz equipment rental depots recently changed their name to Herc.

Must have been a slow roll out. The signage only changed in the last year up here.
More bang for the buck with a name brand recognition of HERTZ vs HERC.

Too bad GM went BK already.
Now may be the time for Fiat to unload Dodge - they want to keep Jeep and Ram brands.

Thank God I'm saved. Pookie to the rescue.
Not doom and gloom if used properly a bankruptcy filing is truly a competitive advantage. A bankruptcy can give a business breathing room to reorganize and create a plan to move forward to profitability, or it can stop the bleeding that can lead to seizure of assets. The ability to temporarily suspend your debt-service obligations, pay only a portion of your current debts and dismiss contracts you've signed can help you be more efficient than your competitors, which must meet all of their obligations.
