After 15 plus years of collecting parts, 1134 is finally on its way to be stripped and repainted. Not sure what lies under four coats of paint. Hopefully, there will be no surprises. This time she will not have stripes.
Wow looks too nice to repaint !
I'm excited to watch the progress considering how close our cars are to each other. 1127

Pucker factor has got to be high when it rolls on the truck and when it rolls off.

It looks good from 10 feet. But when you are close all the imperfections show.

Yes, indeed. I had a very good driver who took his time loading and unloading. It was a little scary watching him drive on the freeway. I could just picture the car flying off the back.
Exciting milestone for sure. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. 8)
What method are you using to strip?
Any chance you can share a few pictures of the process?

The body shop is using aircraft stripper. I will only have pictures once it is stripped.
Congrats, Greek! I can't wait to follow the progress. :D
She is almost completely naked. The paint stripper sold in CA is so environmentally friendly, it would not harm the paint. They removed it the old fashion way. There is some minor body work, but nothing drastic. I was hoping for a little, but bracing for a lot. One never knows what is hidden beneath layers of paint.
Looking great, Greek!
Looks great. Will the front aprons be stripped and repainted as well? Will they look for markings?
Sent you a pm

Looks very very solid. No surprises underneath hopefully.

No major problems. Just some very small, maybe dime size, along the left front fender lip and in various places along the body. Needless to say I was very happy to see such minimal damage, because the original owners rallied the car in Mustang club events in the '60's and 70's. Paint can hide a multitude of problems.
Looks killer!!! ;)
Hey Greek! Should be a fun project! Can't wait to follow your progress.
Bill
Nothing better that starting out with a solid foundation.
The hood has been stripped and readied for primer and paint. There were cracks at the scoop inlet, but fortunately they were in the paint. Surprisingly, there were no cracks in the fiber glass.
Great news, Greek! Thanks for keeping us posted.
That's a solid body ! keep the pictures coming it's always interesting.
Beautiful
Finally, in the final stages of finish coat preparation. Hopefully, in the next week or so the final coat of primer before the color coat is applied.
Looking very good!
Great car
Congrats on the progress, Greek!
Doing a great job, enjoy !
Hi Greek, Yes it does look fantastic, and keep us in the loop. Denny

Yes, I am. Alexander Cadillac in Oxnard is painting the car. They do restoration jobs as an add on to their regular work. The painter there does very good work. I will be finishing the detail work.
She finally has a nice coat of Ivy Green. I am very happy with the way she looks. Hope to get her back to the shop next week and do the undercarriage and engine compartment detailing. Looks great without the LeMans stripes.

Looks great Greek. Cant wait to see it done. Hopefully well get ours together soon.

John, are you restoring your '66?
One of my favorite colors, are you putting strips on it? If white or gold. BTW it looks fabulous,

Greek, I love the color, very unique. Please share it finished.
that paint looks fantastic and I am sure the camera is not doing it justice
please keep the pictures coming as progress keeps moving forward
love the no stripe look in those type of colours

That looks great. Hoping to have mine there soon. The color looks spot on. I have seen some restorations recently where the green was off. Too light almost had a gold yellow hue to it. Do you know if they used solvent based formula paint or waterborne paint?

I thought you were there. I know that some of the older colors have had problems and or not had formulas done in waterborne. Whatever they used looks good.

Looks good Greek! Although I thought your car looked great when we met at the Carpinteria show years ago...thanks for the progress reports!

A few progress pictures. So far, I am only replacing chalk markings that I have discovered during the process. Really liking the no stripe look.
looks fantastic, my long (very long) term plan is to take mine back to the original Ivy at some point
Thank you. I think the ivy green looks fairly close to original.

I prefer the GT350 with no stripes, particularly if the car didn't come with them from SA. I like them with the rocker panel decals only.
Wow! Greek - she's looking fantastic! Love the no stripes look.
Congrats on the progress!
Thanks, Ruben.
Assembly is moving along. Doors, windows, trunk, dash pad and tach. Really liking the no stripe look.
Yes looks very good!!

Thanks, Ruben. It has been a fun process so far.
Last week, with help from great friends, the hood, fenders, headlight buckets, stone deflector, and grill support were installed. Hopefully, this week I will install the instrument cluster, glove box, speaker grille, and hood pin plates.
Be sure to clock the hood pin plate properly before drilling the rivet holes.

Green with envy - looks great, the dark green Shelby's look stealth to me.
Well done, Greek! Please keep the pictures coming. 👍🏻

Please explain.
Thank you for the clarification.
Thanks for sharing the journey!
I have completed more assembly. Bumper, valance, grille and molding, and 10-spokes. Also, completed preliminary electrical check, and the brake lights are the only item not working.
The assembly would not have gone so smoothly without the help of my friends and those I have called upon for technical help.
Thanks,
Greek
Nice work, Greek! Please keep the pictures coming!
Looks really good Greek. And I recognize those stable mates.
Great catching up with you last week!! 8)
So happy for you, it's looking fantastic!
Looking beautiful!
You have to be very excited. Great to see another finished or very very close to it :)
Thanks for the compliments gentlemen. Yes, I am very excited to being almost done. Very anxious to drive her on the street once again.
Craig,
Great catching up with you as well.
Looking great Greek. Cant wait to see it in person.
For all intents and purposes, 1134 is done. There are some minor tweaks I need to do, But for the most part, she is done. I attended our local car show today and received many favorable compliments. Our show is judged by the local merchants and growers, not the public or attendees. I was fortunate to win two awards, a Special Recognition Merchants Award and the Growers Award.
As many of you know, these projects sometimes take a little help from friends. I would like to thank Sue, Linda, Bryce, and Dave for their help. Their help was invaluable.
Also, Jeff Speegle, who answered many of my questions, Jesse at Shelby Parts and Restoration, and Marcus Anghel, and many others.

The car looks fantastic, Greek! Congratulations, and thanks for taking us along for the ride (pun intended ;)).
Congrats!! Looks great! Very nice!
Excellent Greek...Congratulations! I hope to see it in person sometime in the coming year!
Can't wait to see it Greek. Congrats!
Really Beautiful, thanks for posting.
Your hard work has been realized in a outstanding looking restoration.
You really have made a lot of progress in a relatively short period of time. Congrats! The car looks bitchin!
Thanks to all for the positive comments. I am really happy with the result and look forward to many years of driving fun.
The predominant question I receive is, where are the stripes? I tell them this is the way it came to the first owner, without stripes. I suppose that is a question I will be asked many times.
Best to all.
