Am I correct in thinking that the 428 oil pan is the same as the mustang 390 pan but different than the pans used on FE trucks and passenger cars? I'm trying to source an accurate appearing pan for my project.
Cobra Automotive has them made and they are excellent.
Might be deeper to hold the extra quart of oil. I said might be.

You are thinking correctly that the pans are the same Mustang pan 67 390 or 428 (if on a 67 GT500). No difference in oil amount. The repros with the month day stamp are very accurate. Cobra auto or NPD .

You might be thinking of the over the counter drag pan in the Muscle Parts catalog that had a extra section of the front sump welded on to increase oil capacity. I said you might be. ;)
The Milodon pan has the extra depth added as Bob noted with additional oil capacity. I like it, as it does look like the old FE drag race pan of the day. I use on my GT 500KR.

The full size pans don't have the indents to clear the steering linkage like a mustang pan.
