Title: can anyone identify the Truck?
Post by: mark p on December 06, 2020, 10:22:17 PM
Back on forum 1, there was a fun thread about what your elder family drove...

I was recently given a print of this photo, circa 1953. I guess near the end of the $$  line for a coal yard in Philly. At one time it was a pretty successful business.
That's my grandmother with the truck, she ran the business after my grandfather died (maybe around '44?).

I'm curious if any SAAC-ers can identify the brand of truck? ... realizing that it is not a great photo.
I remember my Dad telling me about driving those old trucks with mechanical brakes (not necessarily this truck) and learning to rub up against the curb to help stop  :o ??? ::)
Thanks.

It's a '35 or '36 Ford.

Thanks.
We seemed to have been a Ford family for many years... must've been "Built Ford Tough" back then. That truck would have been close to 20 years old when the photo was taken in 1953.
I'd bet that those trucks took a real beating.
